Real places
True stories

Dunia Docs is a documentary channel that takes you to the real place behind one of the world's greatest stories — one place at a time. Dunia is Swahili for “world”. The first series, Where Humanity Begins, launches on YouTube in October 2026.

What Dunia Docs is

Short documentaries about the places where history actually happened.

Each episode starts with a claim you would not believe and then takes you to the ground that proves it: the 3.6-million-year-old footprints at Laetoli, the gorge at Olduvai that holds two million years of our family in its walls, the greatest animal migration on Earth, a crown of ice on the equator. Warm, painted, travel-poster visuals; a narrator with a Tanzanian voice; facts drawn from published research and checked before anything is recorded.

FormatLong-form episodes of 4 to 15 minutes, each paired with vertical Shorts that end on a question or an action.
LookFlat, warm travel-poster illustration. One painted frame per beat, slow push-ins, burst captions on Shorts.
SoundA deep, warm, Tanzanian-accented narrator over an original score and location sound design.
Cadence at launchContent every day for two weeks: intro, opener, combined story, four episodes, and their Shorts.
AudienceCurious adults and families; educational storytelling, not made for kids.
How it is madeAI-generated narration voice, illustrations, music and sound effects, disclosed on every video. Facts are human-checked.

The first series · Tanzania

Where humanity began, and the country that keeps the evidence.

Seven stories open the channel, then the series walks the rest of Tanzania city by city — Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Kilwa, Arusha, Mwanza, Dodoma and more, with deep-dive mini-series along the way.

The Snows of Kilimanjaro Are Vanishing

A crown of ancient ice just south of the equator, disappearing in our lifetime.

The Style

One painted frame per beat. Where Humanity Begins.

Every scene is a flat, warm travel poster: big shapes, late light, and the real geography of the place, checked against it. These thirty-four frames are from the four episodes that open the channel and the series opener. The city episodes that follow are being brought to the same look before they go live.

Thumbnails

One hero image, boosted colour, two big lines, the brand chip, and the Tanzania ribbon along the bottom.

Visual identity

A globe in the O, three ribbons around it, and one terracotta.

The lockup

DUNIA DOCS wordmark, the globe-and-footprint mark as the O of DOCS; byline BY TANGA LEGACY
  • DUNIA DOCS is the primary mark. The globe — wrapped by three orbital ribbons, the footprint across it — replaces only the O in DOCS. The lettering is the original raster, untouched.
  • The endorsement by Tanga Legacy is set in small, light, tracked capitals across the width of DUNIA, aligned to the ink of the D.
  • Supplied in terracotta, black, white and cream. Never re-set the type; use the files.

The channel hero

Kilimanjaro in terracotta duotone with the white lockup and the tagline REAL PLACES · TRUE STORIES
  • Where a single surface carries the brand — the YouTube banner, the Facebook cover, the website hero — the Kilimanjaro illustration in terracotta duotone carries the white lockup with the tagline REAL PLACES · TRUE STORIES beneath it, at 85% of the wordmark's width. The mountain is a brand illustration, not a photograph.
  • On photography or art, the lockup alone, in white or black, whichever holds.

The icon and social avatar

Terracotta disc, white footprint, band
  • The mark stands alone as the avatar on every platform: white globe and ribbons on terracotta, one file for all five.
  • Holds down to 32 px; the footprint texture softens below that. Use the supplied PNGs; the mark is never redrawn.
  • Watermark on video: the white icon, 150 px.

The two-colour cutout

White globe and ribbons with the terracotta footprint, no background
  • White globe and ribbons with the terracotta footprint, no square behind it. For terracotta or dark grounds at display size only: on white it disappears, and below about 32 px the footprint texture breaks up — use the flat marks there.

Colour

Terracotta#C74A2E · the brand colour
Yellow#FCD116 · legacy: thumbnails and the Tanzania sun
Ink#090C0F · type
White#FFFFFF · the ground
Cream#F6F3EE · the fourth lockup colourway
Green#1EB53A · Tanzania flag accent
Blue#00A3DD · Tanzania flag accent

Terracotta carries the mark, the buttons and the outlines; yellow lives on the thumbnails. Green and blue appear together only as the Tanzania ribbon on thumbnails.

Type

  • Wordmark: the original raster lettering, typeface unidentified — never re-set it. Page headlines: a heavy grotesque in capitals.
  • Endorsement and small labels: a light grotesque, tracked (Helvetica Neue Light).
  • Thumbnails: two big lines, white then yellow, heavy stroke, readable at phone size.
  • Shorts captions: short bursts, centred, inside the platform-safe area.

In white, on dark

The lockup in white on black
  • For end cards, dark thumbnails and video overlays.
